Part Two: And So It Goes

Quentin was talking to Annie's Mother on the Phone when Annie passes his study and overhears him talking. after he's done talking she walks in "Quentin How could you act as though my mother has been dead for 8 years." she glares at him "why were you talking to her." she climbs over the desk and slaps Quentin "is she coming to Collinsport?" Quentin sits back he understood why she was angry so it didn't bother him her reaction. he rubs his face "your mother says John Smith may be your father. she only said he was man who could change faces and he travels around in a blue ship the size of a Phone Booth." Annie's Mother had witnessed the Doctor regenerate in 1974. and Annie had been conceived sometime in 1976. If this was true that would explain so much. like when there was going to be a fire at school she knew to get people out before the alarms went off. How she felt an instant connection to the Doctor when they met in New York. and she crossed paths with him again in Paris when she hadn't even seen the TARDIS. "well is she coming." Annie said. He nodded and poured Annie a drink "you need this to calm your nerves." he pauses "your mother came to me when she found out you were going to be born and told me about John Smith and To Be Honest i thought it sounded crazy even for someone born in Collinsport. It's Fully Possible this man is your father if he recognizes her." Annie sips the brandy she wasn;t a drinker but he was right she needed a drink. this is intense. "i am not Telling The Doctor until we're sure." she looks down "you know this changes things if he is my father i am going with him. because for the Longest time I've felt like an outcast in my own existence. like i never really belonged to this life." sighs "a bit of cosmic angst i suppose." she takes a deep breath "i suppose you're used to being slapped by women. after all before you met Daphne you were a womanizer." she grins "i think he knows you're Immortal."  she sighs "he's a remarkable man."  

Quentin looks at Annie "you respect him i can tell." he pauses "you called Him The Doctor. does he have a real name?" "he has a long unpronounceable name and he prefers to be called The Doctor." Annie says. "I am going for a walk." she gulps down the brandy. and has no gag reflex. Annie puts on her jacket. she knew where the Doctor was. she goes to the TARDIS and knocks on the door "Doctor can we talk?" for the most part the TARDIS was supposed to reject anyone that didn;t have a DNA samp[le but it was like it Knew. Annie entered the TARDIS carefully The Doctor looked at her "what is it Annie." she sits "do you remember people you crossed paths with in your past incarnations." she sits down on the steps next to the TARDIS Console. this place didn't intimidate her she had been having dreams about for years now. "Yes why do you ask." "Quentin told me two things an hour ago. that my mother never really died and that she says you may be my father." she reaches into her packet and takes out a mini photo album "she always evaded my questions when i'd ask about my real father." she shows the Photo to the Doctor "Serenity Collins. But she never Said she was." he sits next to her. "i suspect she didn't want to force you to change the life you were accustomed to so she had her relatives raise me as purely a Collins knowing full well that i would somehow figure out i was different." he scoots over closer "what number am i thinking." he asks Annie looks into his eyes "51,878." "right. let me test your blood if you are right you'll show up as having no recognizable blood type." "okay but i hate needles and hospitals creep me out." Annie says He smiles "trust me it doesn't involve needles." he takes a sample of her blood. "I'll be damned. you carry the blood of Gallifrey. Quentin said your mother is coming to town to see me but the thing is that incarnation was so much different from this one. not as snappy a dresser." he grins. Annie laughs "no wonder i feel safe around you. did i ever tell you once in high school i sensed there was about to be a fire and i saved a bunch of people just before the fire started." he smiles "no you hadn't yet but that could be due partly to the fact that your mother is psychic." Annie looks down "i saw her get shot how could she still be alive." her mother wasn't immortal but there was something strange about her mother there had always been. The truth was Quentin wasn't Annie's Cousin. he was her great great grandfather. no one outside the family knows he's immortal though.

The Doctor looked At Annie. He Knew what would happen next after they found out the  truth she would give up all she knew for all he had. He wasn't sure he could be a father but he could be a protector and the fact remained he had only known her a few times in her life and she was always the same person. a confused and lonely person. "let's just talk." he says and she tells him about her ex and everything that had happened in the last ten years "here have something to drink and breath." he knew at the moment that she felt he was the only one she could trust. She looked at the time and  realized she had been talkin for almost 5 hours. "i'm taking you back to Collinwood Quentin is probably wondering where you are." when they exit the TARDIS Serenity is standing there "hello Reney!!" "how could you let me think you were dead mother." Annie says with fire in her eyes. Serenity looks at the Doctor "Prove you're the same man i knew 27 years ago." the doctor looks at her "when the aliens on our first trip took you prisoner they stripped you down to your underwear and you have a scar on the back of your right leg in the shape of a scar. you have a tattoo on your lower back that reads "the Sinners are much more fun." Annie cringes "sorry Annie." he looks at Serenity "she's right you know. if your goal was to protect her from anything that would come after her you should never have faked your death Reney." Serenity now using the name Lauren Stockbridge takes out a gun and points it at Annie "she has the blood of you the last time lord and my blood the blood of the phoenix. Annie is Immortal!! and i didn't want to tell her so i paid someone to shoot me and i only contacted Quentin." she pulls the trigger and the bullet goes through Annie's shoulder Causing Annie to lose consciousness  and the Doctor watches in Horror. "you were in an insane asylum." he kneels down by Annie "you'll be alright." he takes out her cellphone and calls 911 and then calls Quentin. He looks at Serenity "she's your child and you shot her in the chest!!"

Quentin gets to the woods first "Serenity i should have never called you!!" he looks at the Doctor and Annie "i am sorry i thought she could handle it better." he subdues Serenity "Lauren, you're going back to Wyndcliffe." The Police arrive and Arrest her.  "watch her she bites when she's angry." looks at the Doctor "Come on John we need to get her to the Hospital." The Doctor looks at Quentin "she was yelling something about the blood of the phoenix." they get Annie to the hospital and sit talking while Annie is in surgery. "you have an unusual family mate." The Doctor says. "i'll have you know she's coming with me after she's healed. that young woman in there is my daughter and i don't want her mother attempting to murder her again. and she wants to come with me." "i always knew she would leave this town. no one born a collins can escape this town but she can." he says handing hte doctor a bottle of tea. "it's a long story about the Phoenix and me. so i am not going to go into detail but i suppose you can figure out i am not who i say i am..." <whispers> "Doctor." the receive word that Annie made it through surgery. "you can go in first." The Doctor does this  and Annie is half asleep and staring out the window "My own mother shot me!!"  she starts crying and The Doctor places his hand on her leg "Daddy." it didn't feel strange for either if them to hear that. "you're coming with me when you heal. it wasn't fatal because there's no telling what would happen there, Annie." "I carry the blood of Gallifrey and the Phoenix. i always knew my mother was immortal. i think her real name is Laura Stockbridge Collins. she was once married to Quentin." Annie sighs "the blood of the phoenix i can die in fire and be reborn again. she used to say that when she'd put me to bed." she sighs "the phoenix the mythical bird of fire that can never die it only regenerates."  A few days Pass and Annie leaves the hospital "i am alright Xander. really." she smiles "still a little shaken and not stirred." Buffy laughs "you spend too much time around Xander." she looks at the Doctor. "so this guy is your father. he looks too young to have a daughter your age." "good genes i suppose. meet us at the diner i have to talk to Annie Alone." The Doctor Says.  Xander and Buffy return to Collinwood and the Doctor Takes Annie to The TARDIS "tell the truth you're feeling no pain right now are you?" she looks at him "you're healing as fast as i would. Your Gallifrey DNA is active now, it's possible you;ll grow a second heart if given a fatal shot." he looks down "i think she missed your heart on purpose because she didn't want to risk a regeneration like mine." he takes out a small vile "Nanogenes." he uses them to heal her scar "i am taking you on a tour of the TARDIS and you can wear anything you want from the Wardrobe." two hours later "that looks great on you." Annie looks at the mirror "i feel like a new person." she focusses in her reflection and he hair changes to curly. "i remember you mentioned Time Lords can choose what their hair looks like and my hair doesn't curl when i use a curling iron." she smiles and The Doctor says "you always had those abilities in you you just didn't know it." he grins "Fantastic. when we go on our first
adventure where would you like to go?" "i always wanted to be in the antibellam south." Annie says.smiles "i need tea though and not that crappy tea in the bottle they have at the hospital a proper cup of tea." she sits down "tired of being a proper woman and wearing these damned high heals i want to wear sneakers like you do." she smiles "if i were dressed like southern belle no one would know i wasn't wearing boots." she grins.

He brews up some tea "i am still accepting the idea you're my daughter but i've always prized the fact you're a friend." he smiles "you know the Daleks and Cybermen always show up to try to exterminate or delete me." he grins and touches her shoulder "i trust you fully Annie." he smiles. she looks into his eyes "thank you Doctor." they were both aware there would be some adjustment she would still be calling him the Doctor or John. Dad was just a natural response when she was in the hospital. Annie looks at him "do you thing the Daleks could tell i have Timelord blood."  "not really they basically attempt to kill anything."  The Doctor Says and touches her hand and feels a weird shock and Annie has a vision "that was weird." she says and looks into his eyes "if you weren't my father i'd be attracted to you." blushes "damn i said that out loud didn't i." he rubs the back of his neck "i think i would have heard it as a thought. it's not creepy it's just a quirk of reality. i am the only person that's treated you the way you deserved to be treated. you get used to thinking of yourself as semi attractive and you never see yourself the way others do." he lifts her chin "it's not just because you're part Timelord. it's in you. you always see the good in everyone you meet i can see it in your eyes. you have hard time trusting like i do though." Annie smiles at him "this is only the start of wonderful things i can sense it is Doctor." she smiles and sips the tea. He hands her the Sonic Screwdriver "i'll show you how to make one." he smiles and she says "just what every girl needs a way to pick locks." she grins "Fantastic!!"

Annie And The Doctor go back to Collinwood and have dinner "hello cousin barnabas." <thinking> *before you say anything dad. barnabas is a vampire, he lives at the edge of the estate and has since 1967. I also told Buffy and Xander to leave him be.* "Barnabas this is my Father John Smith. John this is Barnabas Collins." they shake hands. Barnabas looks at Annie "you're oddly upbeat, Annastacia. considering you were just shot by your mother." "i keep telling you call me Annie. there's nothuing i can do to change it and every new begnnning comes from other some other beginning's end. in a few days i am leaving collinsport to travel with my father and he will teach me what he knows about life as a professional wanderer." Everyone nearly does a group spit take a bold move to simply say was leaving She smiles "don't give me that look Quentin you were a sailor for ten years." "i was a ship's captain that was different." Annie glares at him "no arguments at the dinner table." "Fantastic." The Doctor Says.

Xander "will someone pass me the roast. from the right." Barnabas hands it to him "so how did you lose the eye." Xander looks down "Devil Worshipping Preacher poked it out." Annie looks at the Doctor and thinks *Can the Nanogenes help him.* *i am not sure.* he responds fully enjoying the fact that no one knew they were having conversations in their heads. Everyone finishes eating and Quentin looks at Annie "why do you manage to get me to shut up with one simple sentence?" "we have guests so i didn't want you starting a debate on morals and logic in front of my friends."  she simply states. *Dad, go to the TARDIS and prepare to leave. i have to ask Xander and Buffy to do something for me.* he nods and excises himself and Annie takes her friends into the study. "i need you to do something. i know this isn;t anything like the Hellmouth but i need you to stay in Collinsport and watch my family while i am gone." "are you sure?" Xander says she nods "when Lindsey shows up for my date tell him i want to go out with him but i had to find my authentic self first." Annie says and Hugs them "i'll miss you while i am gone." the doctor calls her cell phone and she answers it "thanks Dad." she hangs up and looks at them "i have something to show you guys but you have to promise not to tell anyone about it." she says and Takes them to the woods "see this." she Points to the TARDIS. "Dad said since i trust you he will allow you in here once before we leave. just reserve your words until after i open the door." The Doctor takes their dna samples and gives them a tour of the TARDIS. Annie gives Buffy a TARDIS key "when this glows it means we're about to land. make sure no one sees it." she smiles
